Configuring your AEMO credentials

AEMO user passwords are valid for 90 days. After this period, the password must be reset. To minimise the risk of downtime during rotations, we strongly recommend maintaining two active AEMO users with the required access:
If only one user exists, requests may fail between resetting the password in the AEMO portal and updating it in the Fiskil Console
By alternating between two users, you can avoid this issue. When one user’s credentials are due to expire, switch to the other before performing a reset. Both users must be granted read access to the CDR - Energy API access entity in AEMO.

Setting Up AEMO Users for the First Time

To connect with AEMO through Fiskil, you’ll need to create two AEMO users with the appropriate permissions. This setup allows you to rotate credentials without service interruptions and helps prevent downtime when passwords expire.
  1. Create your first user via the AEMO MSATs portal.
  2. Grant the first user read access to CDR - Energy API access.
  3. Create your second user.
  4. Grant the second user the same read access.
  5. Go to the AEMO menu in the Data Provider Console.
  6. Click the AEMO card.
  7. Enter the username and password for the first user.
When you update your credentials in the Fiskil Console, we automatically perform a connectivity health check by pinging AEMO with the new credentials. If it fails, your credentials won’t be updated.

Updating AEMO Integration During Password Rotation

When one of your AEMO users’ credentials is close to expiry, follow these steps to switch to the second user and update the credentials in the Fiskil Console. This ensures continuous connectivity with AEMO and avoids any API downtime.
  1. Reset the password for the second user in the AEMO portal.
  2. Go to the AEMO menu in the Data Provider Console.
  3. Enter the second user’s updated credentials.
Repeat this process when the next user is due for password expiry. Alternating users ensures uninterrupted data sharing through AEMO.

Credential Expiry Details

The expiry date shown in the console is an estimated expiry calculated as 90 days from the time the credential was last updated. This may appear incorrect if your credential was created earlier but only updated in the Fiskil Console more recently. If the console shows a future date, it reflects when you last updated the credential in Fiskil — not necessarily when it was rotated in AEMO.

Multiple AEMO Participants

If your brand uses multiple Participant IDs (PIDs), configure a separate username and password for each PID:
  1. Click Advanced in the AEMO configuration menu.
  2. Enter the participant ID, username, and password.
  3. Click Add Another Participant if needed and repeat step 2.
  4. Click Save.
Apply the same two-user rotation strategy to each participant to avoid downtime. We will remind you to update your credentials every 90 days.

Pre-Production Credentials

Currently, this credential rotation feature is for production environments only. Fiskil will continue to manage pre-production AEMO credential rotations on your behalf. If this changes, we’ll notify you in advance.

Notifications

Fiskil sends password expiry reminders via email to your designated technical contact. The first email is sent 10 days before the estimated expiry date. Reminders will continue until the credentials are updated in the Fiskil Console. Ensure your Technical Contact is correctly set in the Console under Settings > Company Information.
